Modern Farmhouse Kitchen, Home Bar and Powder Room

This family of five needed a larger kitchen to congregate. Their wish list consisted of a large island with eye catching ceiling detail above and an expanded area featuring a hood/range with work stations on either side. We changed the home's footprint by removing a walled area that contained a powder room and divided the kitchen from the home entry. This dramatically opened up the space! We bumped out the area where the hood is located and added a vaulted ceiling with skylights. We designed a beautiful floating metal hood with a soft gray tile backsplash design. When designing the ceiling over the island, we went back and forth on layout and light placement because the center pendant hangs from the beam center point and the flanking pendants hang from the paneled ceiling. It all worked out beautifully! The gorgeous quartzite countertop on the gray stained island and oversized pendant lighting tie this area together. It's stunning in person! The barn door hides their pantry and compliments their farmhouse style. We eliminated a formal dining room in favor of a walk up bar and large farmhouse table and chairs. They wanted a bit of glam so we added the antique mirrored tile up the bar wall. We were able to squeeze in a small, charming powder room in the front entry. We love wall covering in a small space. It's so fun! We added antique brass faucets wall mounted on a custom designed granite backsplash. We repeated the X pattern in the island ceiling design on the blue vanity. The shape of the brass sconces play off the wallpaper design. This project is jam packed with well thought out detail in design! It was a true team collaboration with our clients and Hyland Homes.
